I have done retail, car sales, etc forever. (I am 36). I have excellent credit, access to funds (upto $500,000), I am computer savvy, People close to me say I have the gift of the gab.
I am looking to start a new business but do not seem to know what I should do that would be profitable and fun.
Any ideas..
I have found the best type of business to start up is a home based business. You have the same income opportunity as a traditional business has, and you also have less over head to pay for each month. Most everything in your house, is part of your business, which becomes tax write offs. Your telephone, computer, heating, electricity, car etc. Less over head, less bills to pay out then a traditional business which means MORE profit. Home based businesses are also cheaper to start up then a traditional store front. Most only cost $500 to start. They're also easier to maintain.
With the business experiences that I have had, the best type of home based business to have, I feel is collaborating with another business. In doing this, it lessens the stress factor that a traditional business has, yet you have the same income opportunity, no overhead, no buying and re-selling, no bills to pay. So everything you make, is basically a profit! That's what we did quite a few years ago. We collaborated with the largest direct selling Telecommunications service provider in the world. They market in Local and Long Distance telephone services, Internet, video phones, digital phones, VOIP, Satellite TV as well as all the major cellular phone providers such as Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Alltell, Nextell etc. We save people money on services that they already have and can introduce them to services that they don't have. Everytime these people pay their bills, we make a percentage over and over again each month.
This business gave us the opportunity to be able to start up our non profit organization and have the monthly funding come in that was needed for our programs.

I would bet there is a niche market for a paedophile phone sex line. Is it wrong? Yes. Illegal? Probably not.

Depending on what your are interested in your options are endless. Just look around in lots of different places and see what catches your interests.
If you look on Ebay, the are (Businesses for Sale) if you type that in your search criteria and you can pick your price range. With 500,000 you will have a lot to choose from. Otherwise BizBuySell.com is neat place to look for established Businesses. If you want to start from Scratch check out Entrepreneur.com and you can start something or buy a franchise.
Good Luck..

Why not choose something you really want to do? What is your passion?
I love fine dining so personally I would open a restaurant. Though they are a risky business and most tend to close down the first year. I would recommend getting a knowledgeable partner(s) and an experienced chef.
Food never goes out of style.

maybe you should try starting your own real estate firm. getting a license would prollie onlee cost around $500 and since you have the gift of gab you would make a killer in sells. look around your community and see what it is lacking (ie family fun center, movie theatre). maybe start up what the community needs. it'll bring you profit and help the economy grow in your area

As a home business trainer, I'd like to ask YOU a few questions.
First off, I see that you have some experience in sales and marketing and that's a great asset to have in starting up your own business but I am confused by how you contradict your experience by advertising how much money you have to invest in a business. Do you really feel that is a wise thing to announce to a world of unknowns?
If you're still reading this, that tells me you're curious as to what else I'm going to say and why so I mayas well continue….and thank you for allowing me to by reading this!
I love the fact that you are computer savy and have great PR skills according to those who know you…..that is also a huge plus in any business no matter where you stand or what position you hold in that business.
So, you're looking to start a new business, you have great PR skills, experience in marketing and probably sales as well as computer savy…..those are the gifts you have that you want to combine to work for you yes?
More and more people are looking to join the on-line work from home businesses where they can enjoy tax benefits, flexible hours and the freedom of being their own boss while earning a residual income, using all the gifts that you have told me you have.
Not only is it a lifestyle and source of financial freedom, people are enjoying the added benefit of being able to be around their family more than if they were out "at" a job, something that is once again becoming important to society even though we all need that second income while raising our children.
If that's something that you're looking into, then start figuring out what the current market trend is, find something in that trend that excites you….something you'd really enjoy doing and start researching companies from there.
Of course, you want to beware of that "get rich quick" and "pay us this amount of money and we'll show you how" sort of thing. Run Forest run! You know that's gotta be a bad deal.
Of the companies that appear to be legitimate, check out what they're offering you and if that fits what you want, and if it does, then look even harder - inside and out - at that company. Find out what kind of training and ongoing support they'll offer you as well as that can be such a crucial point to your success.
Once you're satisfied that everything is above board, then go for it! The trend is swinging very quickly to on-line home based businesses and it can be very lucrative

Hi
With your skills and interests you could do well with an online business.
I'm building an income promoting online club memberships. I've started my business on a very low budget and I'm starting to see some good results. I'm now in profit after working at it for about six weeks.
I searched the Internet for months for stable, well established and well paying online businesses. So far I have only found one that I am sure is honest, is simple and straight forward and which pays well. It's different and people are really interested in it.
There are a lot of scams around and a some programs make great claims but don't really pay much. Be very careful of anything you go into in online businesses. Do a proper scam search on anything you look at before joining.
The business I'm in costs me $50 per month to participate in, but I'm already making that back and I'm in profit. I'm no marketing guru, so if I can do this anyone can.
If you want to join I'll help you with everything I know about online promotion. You really need to know about promotion to succeed with any online business.
My email address is at the website so you can contact me if you have any questions and if you join contact me and I will help you to start earning.
