I have to make a business plan for a made up business. I am stumped on what kind of business to start…. Any creative ideas? But it has to be something that will be somewhat realistic.
As you can see from the other responses it can be anything. What they are looking for is that you have been thorough.
No matter what business you need to look at the following:
Business Strategy, Location, competitive environment, marketing plan, budget, forecasted revenue, hiring plan, capital funding, legal issues, etc.
How about a business that does beauty salon treatments in your own home. Great for people who can't get out (like seniors). You would hire stylists, and they would make a portion of the fee. You have very little overhead, except administration and advertising. You would cut deals with rehab centers, etc. to get lists of patients who are home bound and then set up appointments for people to go there and do their hair, nails etc. You refer the names to the mobile stylists, and they do the work. You collect the money and the stylist gets a percentage. No building, very flexible for the stylist, and you Can run this business right out of your home.
You would need to find out how much stylists pay to have a chair in a salon, and then how many clients they do a week, divide by the hours and make a comparison so they would see some benefit from doing this with you. Then keep going from there….

Restaurant:
- Pizza Delivery

- Coffee & Pastries
- Ice Cream Shop
- Wine Bar
- Catering Service
Sporting Good Specialty Store
Flip & Fold Laundry
Cleaning Service
Organization Service
Internet Retail Website
Community or Social Networking Site for a specific group of people (religon, compeitive sport, etc)
Hair Salon or Cosmotology
Flower Shop or Garden Center

Wow! Great question. If you are stumped, choose a business idea based on your interests. Do you love children? Perhaps you could open a daycare center or host children's parties (this is what I do). Do you love art, crafts, photography? Scrapbooking would be a business idea that is fun to contemplate. You could open a store selling supplies, hosting how-to classes, or you can get paid to scrapbook others' photos.
