When you are searching for a business, what must lead the way should be your own interest in or love for whatever it is you want to do. Loving what you do miraculously attracts all the necessary resources, people and opportunities. You don't need much money to start your own website. Building a website around your interests can attract businesses to you and you could market for them and get paid.
I suggest that you read this great article that expands on ideas on how to invest your time in building a business and little or no money. http://lazyway.blogs.com/lazy_way/2005/10/how_to_start_a_.html
Don't be fooled by the url. There is no lazy way to build a successful business. I hope this helps.
BEST WISHES!

Online stores require three things - web site, products and customers.

As for products that can vary depending on if you want inventory - and if it is goods or services.

As for customers - people need to know you exist or they can't buy from you. Getting people to your online store costs money. - how much - that depends on what you are willing to invest - if the products or services are good - then you may have repeat business. If there is lots of competition - then you have to invest enough to make potential customers come to you instead of "them"

As for your web site - once again - how much do you invest - and this depends on how much money you want to make - if only $50 profit per week - you don't need a major site - if you want to make thousands of $ per month - you need something more durable and user friendly.

Try this site - http://www.myownretail.com
You may find a reseller program (not a MLM) could be a good start.

Look into becoming an eBay trading assistant. Get good at selling on eBay and people give you their stuff to sell on eBay on their behalf. Usually, it's a 60-40 or 70-30 split.. So say someone gives you a "widget" valued at about $100. You get it, photograph it, list it on eBay, collect the money, ship it, pay eBay, and give that person about $60 or $65 when things are all said and done.. You would probably make about $25-$30 on such a transaction. It's a win-win because you made money for your time and effort with no inventory, etc. and they made $60 or $65, got rid of something they wanted to sell and didn't really do anything for it to sell other than give it to you.

I did this for a few years part time and did fairly well with it.

You can also look into being an eBay certified trainer and teach people how to sell on eBay. You buy the materials, take a test online, and they list you as certified.

I'm currently look at ways that eBay sellers can integrate video into their eBay auctions and take them to the next level for better hits, sales, etc. (http://gottahavevideoemail.com)

Hope my answers were helpful to you. Good luck if you choose to leverage eBay's existing audience and so forth.
