Any business gurus, martial artists or creative people know how to help an ailing dojo?

by admin on May 19, 2009

I've been going to my dojo for four years, but within the past year the place is really not doing so hot bussiness wise. They are non-for profit, but attendence is really low despite low monthly dues and no contracts. It's a nice biulding in a nice part of town, relatively speaking. It is very traditional, non of that cardio kickboxing or anything. We have no budget for advertizing, last I knew the place couldn't afford a newspaper ad. Any ideas on how we could draw more people in, cheaply?

yeah well promotions .. i wud suggest a free sesiion for prospect clients … and have sum councelling session .. craete awarenes amongst the ppl of how important martial arts is .. like have a seminar .. and get sum company around to sponsor .. thaz teh best way … and yeah… summer is near .. so wa u can do is go over to the schools and give a talk on importancs of matial arts .. hope this helps .. these are the ways in which u may incur no costs at all … but u may have to apend time and hard work .. God bless u and all the best … take care

attendance may be low due to the instructor, make sure the instructor really knows his stuff and is looking out for the students' best interest and not trying to feed his/her own ego.

as far as advertising, posting on craigslist is free, do a few public martial arts demonstrations for festivals, fairs, or schools.

find out where your students work or how they can help to promote the school. your students may work for an hr department, radio station, or even newspaper.

good luck!
